PAGASA monitoring active tropical cyclone outside PAR

(Eagle News)–The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is monitoring an active tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

PAGASA said tropical storm “Matmo” is located 895 kilometers west of southern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kph and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

It is moving northwest at 20 kph.

Meanwhile, Bicol Region and the provinces of Aurora, Quezon, Cagayan and Isabela will have cloudy  skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the easterlies  affecting the eastern section of the country.

Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have  partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains as the northeast monsoon affects extreme Northern Luzon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

Flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms are possible.
