(Eagle News)–“Mangkhut” is on track to pass through northern Luzon once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Wednesday, Sept. 12.

According to PAGASA, the typhoon was located 1390 kilometers east of southern Luzon.

The center of “Mangkhut,” which will be named “Ompong” once it enters PAR, is packing  maximum sustained winds of 200 kilometers per hour, and gustiness of up to 245 kilometers per hour.

It is moving west at 20 kilometers per hour.

According to PAGASA, apart from northern Luzon, central Luzon and the eastern section of southern Luzon will be affected by “Ompong,” whose forecast arrival prompted class cancellations in some parts of La Union today.
