(Eagle News)– Several barangays in Lanao del Sur and Iligan City will not observe the nationwide opening of classes for school year 2017-2018 on Monday (June 5).

Education Secretary Leonor Briones said on Thursday this was upon the recommendation of authorities in Mindanao.

Briones refused to name the selected barangays, but said the postponement of the opening of classes would apply to four barangays in Lanao del Sur, and another four in Iligan.

The Department of Education earlier postponed the opening of classes in Marawi City.
