One killed after gov’t security forces raid house of one suspect in Jolo, Sulu blasts

(Eagle News)—-One person was killed after government security forces on Tuesday, Jan. 29, raided the house of one of the suspects in the twin blasts in Jolo, Sulu that killed at least 21.

Suspect alias Kamah’s relative, Ommal Yusop, died after security forces were forced to retaliate when he resisted arrest, a report on GMA’s Unang Balita said.

Alias Kamah  and another, however, were able to flee, the report said.

Recovered from his residence in Patikul were a .45 caliber pistol, two cellphones, a sniper scope and a motorcycle.

Alias Kamah, allegedly affiliated with the Abu Sayyaf group, was seen at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral in footage from a closed-circuit television camera before the blasts.

The Islamic State has also claimed responsibility for the attack, which came after the Commission on Elections deemed ratified the Bangsamoro Organic Law.

The police have said, however, that the blasts were not related to the ratification.
