No sealing of guns this holiday season, says PNP

MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Philippine National Police announced that there would be no sealing of guns this holiday season because they believe policemen are “disciplined and responsible enough.”

The PNP also clarified that that the non-sealing of guns has nothing to do with the war on illegal drugs.

PNP Spokesman Senior Supt. Dionardo Carlos said that the reason for the move is to show that the police are now more disciplined and responsible.

“By doing that, the people will be able to trust the PNP and our credibility will be raised,” Carlos said.

“The PNP leadership today trusts and treats every policeman as a responsible law enforcement officer and gun-holder who will not fire his firearms indiscriminately and will only fire it when it is extremely necessary to do so in the line of duty,” Carlos said.

PNP Chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa on his part said, that members of the police force who will violate the order will face strong penalties for indiscriminate firing.
