NFA assures enough rice in typhoon-damaged Northern Samar

National Food Authority (NFA) has assured the residents of typhoon-damaged Northern Samar that there is enough rice.

National Food Authority (NFA) Administrator Renan B. Dalisay inspected on Wednesday ground zero of Typhoon Nona in Catarman, Northern Samar after receiving initial reports Tuesday, December 15, that two of the agency’s warehouses in the area were damaged by Typhoon Nona.

Around 31,000 bags of rice amounting to P38 million stored in NFA warehouses in Bobon and Rawis were damaged after strong winds blew away their roofs. But majority of the stocks were quickly salvaged and secured.

“We have enough supply just from the warehouses in Bobon and Rawis. Just the same, the NFA warehouses near Northern Samar are ready to bring more supply if needed ,” Dalisay said during the meeting of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) in Northern Samar yesterday.

Dalisay also met up with the PDRRMC team of Northern Samar, led by Provincial Administrator Atty. Efren Sabong, former Deputy Administrator for finance and administration of NFA, for updates.

Communication and electricity are still down in the area. (NFA)
