NDRRMC: Over 500,000 people affected by Typhoon “Ompong”

(Eagle News)—-Over 500,000 people were affected after Typhoon “Ompong” hit the country, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said on Monday, Sept. 17.

The NDRRMC said that of the 591762, 286,730 people came from Region III; 109,472 individuals from Region I; and 90,523 individuals from Region II.

The NDRRMC said 229 areas were flooded in Regions I and III and in Calabarzon.

Classes were also suspended in 957 cities and municipalities in Regions I, II, III, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, CARAGA, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the National Capital Region, the NDRRMC said.

Government work was also suspended in 228 cities and municipalities in Regions I, II, III, VI, XIII, and CAR.
