NDRRMC: More than 5,000 people affected by “Usman” in Regions V and VIII

(Eagle News)–Almost 5000 people were affected by Tropical Depression “Usman” in Regions V and VIII, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said on Sunday, Dec. 30.

According to the NDRRMC,  the 4,906 persons translate to 1,274 families.

Over 1000, or 1,169 families (2,567 persons) were also pre-emptively evacuated in 29 barangays in Region VIII, the NDRRMC said.

Seventy-eight areas were also reported flooded in Regions V and VIII.

The Philippine Coast Guard has said more than 3,700 passengers and 28 vessels were stranded in ports.

On Saturday, Dec. 29, “Usman” weakened into a low pressure area after making landfall in Eastern Visayas.
