NDRRMC monitors LPA

QUEZON CITY, Dec. 21 — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council continuously monitors a Low Pressure Area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

According to PAGASA, Northeast Monsoon affects Northern Luzon. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains is expected over Ilocos Region, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly over the eastern section. Moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to occasionally rough.

Strong to gale force winds has weakened over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon and eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon. However, fishing boats and other small seacrafts are alerted against moderate to rough seas.

The LPA outside PAR was estimated 1760 km East of Mindanao. It is expected to develop into a Tropical Depression. If it maintains its track, it is possible to enter PAR tomorrow or by Friday and will be called “Nina”.

The National Council has advised all Local DRRM Councils concerned to take precautionary measures as necessary. The public is advised to continuously monitor weather updates through TV, radio and social media. (NDRRMC)
