NDRRMC: 16 people preemptively evacuated ahead of landfall of Typhoon “Ompong”

(Eagle News) — Sixteen people have so far been evacuated ahead of Typhoon Ompong’s forecast landfall in the northern tip of Cagayan on Saturday, Sept. 15, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

According to Edgar Posadas, NDRRMC spokesperson, the four families from Rizal, Kalinga were evacuated to Tabuc, Kalinga.

“As of 6 a.m. ito, so madadagdagan pa ito,” he said.

So far, he said the NDDRMC and its regional councils were already prepared.

He also lauded local government units for making the councils’ jobs easier.

“Medyo madali trabaho ng regional councils natin because our (local government units) are fully engaged,” Posadas said.
