(Eagle News) — The Ninoy Aquino International Airport has made it to a British-based consultancy firm’s list of most improved airports.

The country’s main gateway was tenth on Skytrax’s list, which was topped by the  Rome Fiumicino Airport.

In second place was the Perth Airport, in third Calgary airport, in fourth Taiwan Taoyuan airport, and in fifth the Athens airport.

The Nadi International Airport in Fiji bagged sixth place, Montreal airport seventh place, Moscow Sheremetyevo airport eighth place, and Houston Intercontinental Airport ninth place.

Singapore’s Changi airport was again named the world’s best airport of 2018.

Skytrax said the  2018 Awards were “based on 13.73 million airport survey questionnaires completed by over 100 different nationalities of airline customers during the survey period,” from August 2017 to February 2018.

The survey included 550 airports worldwide.

In a statement on Thursday, Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Ed Monreal thanked  passengers who he said took the time to share the NAIA experience through the survey.

“Their testimonies serve as inspiration for us to believe that change is not impossible even in the midst of trials,” he said.

He also thanked the men and women of MIAA, who he said deserve the “greater recognition.”

“We are only as good as our last accomplishment. The bigger challenge now is how to sustain it,” he added.
