More than 500,000 families in Manila to receive P1,000 aid from city gov’t starting April 7

(Courtesy: Manila Public Information Office) – Around 568,000 families in Manila will receive P1,000 cash assistance from the city government beginning Tuesday, April 7. Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso signed Ordinance No. 8625, or the City Amelioration Crisis Assistance Fund, which authorized the allocation of P591 million to barangay-identified beneficiaries to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 crisis.

(Eagle News) – More than 500,000 families in Manila will receive P1,000 cash assistance from the city government beginning Tuesday, April 7.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso announced the cash assistance after signing Ordinance No. 8625, or the City Amelioration Crisis Assistance Fund, which authorized the allocation of P591 million as financial aid to about 568,000 families in the city.

“House-to-house po (ang distribution), wala pong pila. Lahat ng itinala ninyo ay dapat n’yong bigyan isa-isa. Sila ay mag-iisyu ng resibo at acknowledgment receipt (Distribution will be house-to-house, there will be no lines. All those registered should receive their share.  They will issue receipt and acknowledgment receipt),” Domagoso was quoted as saying in an online statement issued by the Manila Public Information Office.

The Mayor assured his constitutients that he will give nightly updates regarding the distribution fo the cash aid.

“Gabi-gabi ipahahayag ko sa inyo ang mga barangay na tumanggap na ng cash o CACAF. Sila ay required na mag-liquidate in three days (I will give nightly updates on the barangays which have already received cash or CACAF.  They are required to liquidate in three days),” he added.

Under the ordinance, P1,000 will be given to each beneficiary, who will be identified by their respective barangays.

The cash assistance aims to “cushion the effect of the COVID-19 crisis and to enable the people of Manila to purchase much needed food and supplies for their survival”, the statement said.
