(Eagle News)–More areas have been placed under Signal No. 1 as Typhoon “Tisoy” maintained its strength and moved westward.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the signal is hoisted over Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Camarines Sur, Masbate including Burias and Ticao Island Samar, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran, Camotes Island and Leyte.
The same signal may be raised over Southern Quezon, Camarines Norte, Marinduque, Romblon, Northern Cebu including Bantayan Island, Southern Leyte, the northeastern portion of Iloilo, and the northeastern portion of Capiz soon, PAGASA said.
According to the weather bureau, as of 4 a.m., “Tisoy” was located 885 km east of Virac, Catanduanes, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph
It is moving west at 15 kph and is expected to make landfall in Bicol between tomorrow evening and Tuesday.
Occasional to frequent heavy rains are forecast over Bicol Region, Samar provinces, and Biliran for tomorrow, while. moderate to occasional heavy rains are expected over Romblon, Marinduque, and Quezon.
Sea travel is risky, especially for small sea craft, over the seaboards of areas under a storm signal, the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of the country due to prevailing or forecast rough sea conditions.
