Monsoon rains to prevail in parts of PHL as southwest monsoon affects W. Luzon

(Eagle News)–Monsoon rains are expected in parts of the country today, Aug. 2, as the southwest monsoon affects the western section of Luzon.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said flash floods or landslides due to light to moderate to at times heavy monsoon rains are also possible in Pangasinan, Zambales and Bataan, with the Low Pressure Area located 915 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes as of 3 a.m.

Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Ilocos Region and Central Luzon will have cloudy skies  with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, while Bicol Region, Visayas, Caraga, and Northern Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the trough of the LPA.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

The western section of Luzon will have moderate  to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters, while the rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will have light to moderate rains and moderate to rough coastal waters.
