MMDA’s Garcia, Pialago on self-quarantine after exposure to COVID-19 case

(Eagle News) — Metropolitan Manila Development Authority General Manager Jojo Garcia is now on self-quarantine after exposure to a person who tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019.

MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago made the revelation, as she announced she herself was under self-quarantine after attending the same meeting which the COVID-19-positive patient attended.

“I ask those I have been personally in contact with, please do the same, as you may be at risk,” Pialago said.

“Please don’t underestimate COVID-19 and make sure to carry out proper hygiene and health measures,” she added.

President Rodrigo Duterte has imposed a Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine to arrest the spread of COVID-19.

He also called on Congress to hold a special session and declare a national emergency.

He also asked Congress to grant him the necessary powers that are restricted but for a limited period so he can address the situation. With a report from Meanne Corvera
