MMDA suspends number coding on Monday due to typhoon ‘Lando’

MANILA, Oct. 19 (PNA) –- Due to inclement weather brought about by typhoon “Lando,” the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Monday (Oct. 19) lifted the number coding scheme.

If the number rule would be in effect, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 are not allowed in major thoroughfares from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The number coding scheme or the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) is a traffic decongestion strategy which bans private and public utility vehicles from plying the roads on weekday peak hours based on the last digit of their license plates.

Meanwhile, MMDA also suspended the operations of Pasig River Ferry System as Metro Manila is still under Public Storm Warning Signal no. 1. (PNA) JMC/CLTC
