Mild 3.5-magnitude quake hits Cotabato

(Eagle News)–A mild 3.5-magnitude earthquake struck Cotabato on Sunday, Nov. 3.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, of tectonic origin, hit 15 kilometers southwest of Makilala at 4:12 a.m.

Depth of focus was 16 kilometers.

No aftershocks were recorded.

Earthquakes measuring from a 3.0 to 3.9 magnitude under the Richter scale are often felt by people who observe some shaking.

They, however rarely cause damage.

PHIVOLCS said no damage was recorded.

At least two strong earthquakes hit Cotabato last week, leaving at least sixteen people dead.
