MIAA warns airlines vs “arbitrarily delaying, canceling flights” following 6.1-magnitude quake that hit Luzon

(Eagle News)–The Manila International Airport Authority has warned airline companies against arbitrarily delaying or canceling flights following the 6.1-magnitude quake that struck Luzon on Monday.

MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal noted there has been no damage to the Ninoy Aquino International  Airport runway and taxiway facilities and no reported concerns on its terminal buildings after an inspection conducted by MIAA teams in the first place.

“The airport chief reminds airlines not to burden passengers with the inconvenience that may result to disruption of passengers’ travel plans,” the MIAA said.

Meanwhile, Monreal  directed his operations team to admit flights that cannot be accommodated in the Clark International Airport, which was hardly hit by the earthquake on Monday.

“In this light, (Monreal) strongly urges airlines to ensure availability of shuttle buses to ferry passengers from Manila to Clark,” MIAA said.
