MIAA backs Cebu Pacific’s cancellation of over 50 flights

(Eagle News)–The Manila International Airport Authority backed Cebu Pacific’s cancellation of over 50 flights.

In a statement, MIAA said the cancellation of the 58 flights was necessary to “rationalize flight operations to improve on-time performance and sustainably reduce passenger inconvenience.”

“If this is what it takes to address their operational constraints, so be it. We believe all factors were carefully considered by Cebu Pacific in reaching a decision as crucial as this,”  MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal said.

Transportation Secretary Art Tugade, however, reminded the carrier and  airport authorities that appropriate assistance should be given to those affected.

“Wag na natin dagdagan ang hirap nila. Let us exert all efforts to attend to their needs,” Tugade said.
