Mekeni Food Corp. to trace source of ASF virus found in some of its products

(Eagle News)–Mekeni Food Corp. on Monday, Nov. 5, vowed to trace the source of the African Swine Fever virus that was found in some of its products.

The Pampanga-based company issued the statement as it announced that all the pork-based products it pulled out from the market on October 26 were already quarantined.

It said its  pork-based processing area has also been cleansed and disinfected.

“A batch sampling has been submitted to an independent laboratory for ASF testing. We are still waiting for the results of these tests,” it said, noting that it has always  complied with all regulations and certifications set by authorities in the past 32 years of its operations.

On Monday, the Department of Agriculture said the company’s skinless longganisa and Perfect hotdogs tested positive for the virus.
