Eagle News — Actress Nanette Medved-Po and cousins Daniel and David Zuellig have made it to  Forbes magazine’s prestigious list of philanthropy icons this year.

The three were included in the Heroes of Philanthropy 2017 list in the Asia-Pacific, which gathers 40 philanthropists from 14 countries all over the world.

Medved-Po is the founder, chairperson and president of “Generation of Hope” and “Friends of Hope,” which donates the proceeds of selling “Hope in a Bottle” bottled water to help build classrooms in different parts of the Philippines.

Since 2012, she was able to sell 9 million bottled waters, enabling the construction of 37 classrooms for more than 7,000 students.

The Zuelligs were recognized for their Zuellig Family Foundation Good Governance program, which covers more than 600 municipalities.

“The family’s Zuellig Group – a low-profile but powerhouse pharmaceutical company in Asia – has contributed an average of $2.3 million annually over the last five years to the foundation,” Forbes said.

“These cousins (David and Daniel) help steer the foundation, which has improved healthcare in poor rural areas, significantly reducing mortality rates for infants and mothers,” the magazine added.
