Maute matriarch, former Marawi City Mayor, 13 others undergo inquest proceedings

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — The mother of Abdullah and Omar Maute, two leaders of the Maute Group, has undergone inquest proceedings.

The Prosecutors’ Office in Cagayan De Oro City conducted the inquest of Ominta “Farhana” Maute.

Aside from Farhana, former Marawi City Mayor Fahad Salic and 13 other members underwent inquest proceedings.

Salic was arrested for his alleged links with the Maute Group.

He was included in an arrest order issued by Defense Secretary and martial law administrator Delfin Lorenza.

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre personally witnessed Farhana’s inquest proceeding for rebellion.

“We are here to personally verify the sufficiency of the preparations of our DOJ Teams as they go about the inquest proceedings of the detained Maute-ISIS personalities,” Aguirre said.

“Once they have been subjected to inquest proceedings, we will work towards having the high value parties transferred to Manila to better secure them,” Aguirre said.

Farhana was arrested in Masiu, Lanao del Sur, last Friday.  She is believed to be the financier of the terror group.
