Mary Jane Veloso might still face execution in Indonesia next week — Migrante

MANILA, Philippines, July 8 (Eagle News) — Mary Jane Veloso, a Filipina helper that has been convicted of drug trafficking in Indonesia and who was granted a temporary reprieve of execution last April 29, might be scheduled again for execution next week.

According to the Migrante International, the Indonesian government is expected to announce the complete names of those who are scheduled to be executed by firing squad on July 17 or after the Muslim observance of Ramadan.

The group also expressed their fear that Veloso’s name is included in the list, after almost a three-month temporary reprieve.

However, according to Attorney Josalee Deinla of the National Union of People’s Lawyers, said that as of now they still have no information of the names of those scheduled for execution next week.

Meanwhile, Department of Foreign Affairs Spokesman Charles Jose said that they are still verifying this information with Indonesian authorities. (Eagle News Service)
