Marcos camp hits Macalintal for allegedly urging former senator to drop poll protest vs Robredo

(Eagle News)–The camp of Bongbong Marcos has slammed Romulo Macalintal, counsel of Vice President Leni Robredo for supposedly urging the former senator to drop the electoral protest against her.

“Talk about freeloading. Inferring from his statement, the counsel of Mrs. Robredo has grown lazy. It has become apparent that he wants us to do his job for him,” Vic Rodriguez, Marcos’ spokesperson, said.

According to Rodriguez, the “dismissal of a pending action should be based on merit and not on mere empty politicking or puerile sound bytes.”

“Dream on Mr. Macalintal!” he said.

Earlier,  Macalintal said Marcos “would act as a statesman” if he withdrew the electoral protest considering what he said was Robredo’s busy schedule as co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee Against Illegal Drugs.

“It’s a gentlemanly act, (this would not only help) Vice President Robredo, (but Marcos would help the) Supreme Court (as well),” he added. With a report from Meanne Corvera
