Manila Water can’t say if customers affected by water shortage will get refund

(Eagle News)–The chief executive officer of Manila Water Company Inc. on Monday, March 18, dodged questions on whether or not the concessionaire’s customers affected by the water shortage would receive a refund.

“Your honor, there’s no discussion yet on that one because our focus po is on the restoration of the service,” Ferdinand Dela Cruz told Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Zarate.

When pressed again by Zarate, Dela Cruz said the firm would just “follow the prescribed process of the (Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System) regulatory office for what has happened.”

Manila Water has attributed the water shortage to the declining levels of the La Mesa dam.

But the Palace noted the primary source of water of both Manila Water and Maynilad was Angat dam, which was still full.

Maynilad did not encounter water supply problems.
