(Eagle News) — A Manila regional trial court has deferred the arraignment of the 10 Aegis Juris fraternity members who stand accused of the death of University of Sto. Tomas law student Horacio Castillo III.
Branch 20 postponed the arraignment of Mhin Wei Chan, Jose Miguel Salamat, John Robin G. Ramos, Marcelino Bagtang Jr., Arvin A. Balag, Ralph Trangia, Axel Munro Hipe, Oliver Onofre, Joshua Joriel Macabali and Hans Matthew Rodrigo on charges for violation of the Anti-Hazing Law to July 24 pending resolution of an appeal filed by one of them.
Only Trangia has reportedly filed a petition for review of the Department of Justice decision that found probable cause against him.
Castillo died from injuries believed sustained from hazing rites conducted by the Aegis Juris fraternity in September 2017.
The 10 accused have been detained in the National Bureau of Investigation since they surrendered to authorities in March.
