Manila court orders arrest of Joma Sison, others over mass grave in Inopacan, Leyte

A Manila court has issued a warrant of arrest for Communist Party of the Philippines founding chair Joma Sison and several others over the mass grave found in Inopacan, Leyte in 2006./Moira Encina/Eagle News/

(Eagle News)–A Manila court has ordered the arrest of Communist Party of the Philippines founding chair Joma Sison and over 30 others for multiple murder.

Also ordered arrested by  Judge Thelma Bunyi-Medina of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 32 in connection with  a mass grave in Inopacan, Leyte  were Leo Velasco, Rodolfo Salas alias Ka Bilog, Jose Luneta, and Luis Jalandoni, a senior adviser of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines, among others.

The grave, which was discovered in 2006, supposedly contained the bones of victims of the purging allegedly done by the New People’s Army in the 1980s

The judge did not recommend bail for the accused.

Sison is on exile in The Netherlands.
