Manila court convicts Aegis Juris member of obstruction of justice

Branch 14 Metropolitan Trial Court acquits Solano of perjury

(Eagle News)–A Manila court has convicted a member of the Aegis Juris fraternity of obstruction of justice.

John Paul Solano, the first conviction in the Horacio Castillo III case, was, however acquitted of perjury by Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 14.

It was Solano who brought Castillo to the hospital after the University of Sto. Tomas law freshman collapsed due to injuries allegedly sustained during hazing rites in September 2017.

Solano told authorities he had found Castillo on a Manila street.

He later admitted he lied, and was only forced to do this upon instructions from Arvin Balag, the fraternity president at that time.
