Malacañang urges public to be alert, report suspicious activities

(Eagle News) — Malacañang urged the public on Sunday to remain alert and “immediately report to authorities any suspicious activity or movement.”

The Palace issued the statement following the twin explosions that rocked Quiapo, Manila on Saturday.

At least two people were killed in what police said was an incident that was not terrorism-related.

Police were looking into the possibility the motive behind the explosions was a clan war.

“Also, we urge our people to refrain from forwarding news from unverified sources that may cause undue alarm and panic,” Malacañang said.

The Palace also noted that an investigation was still ongoing.

“We are saddened by the loss of lives brought by yesterday’s night explosions in Quiapo. We likewise wish for the immediate recovery of those who were wounded,” it added.

On April 29, another explosion rocked Quiapo, injuring several people.

The police said then they were looking at the possibility the motive behind the blast was a gang war.
