Malacañang condoles with kin of victims in Resorts World attack

(Eagle News)– The Palace on Friday (June 2) condoled with the family and friends of the victims who died during an attack at Resorts World Manila.

“The Palace wishes to express its deep condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the Resorts World Manila’s latest incident,” presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said.

“This is a reminder that civilized society has no place for this kind of violence. Thus, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has put the campaign against criminality as a centerpiece program of his administration,” Abella noted.

He added that the “safety of citizens and the security of communities are our primordial concerns, and we hope to seek everybody’s cooperation to achieve a peaceful and fear-free environment.”

More than 30 people died — mostly from suffocation — while 54 persons were wounded after a gunman who had tried to rob a casino inside the Resorts World Manila in Pasay set fire furniture inside in a bid to escape.

The gunman, who also fired shots inside the hotel, later set himself on fire and shot himself in the head.
