Malacañang confirms continuation of peace talks with CPP

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said that President Rodrigo Duterte and the Founding Chairman of the Communist Party of the Philippines have agreed to push through with the peace talks between the government and the CPP.

“Yes, it went through. It was mostly a conversation between friends,” Abella said.

“No references were made to political issues. Both agreed on moving peace process forward,” he added.

In a Facebook post, Jose Maria Sison said he had a “friendly and productive” phone conversation on advancing the peace talks. The phone call happened at 2 AM on Tuesday.
