Magalong says he does not recall asking Albayalde for any favor between 2006 and 2010

(Eagle News)–Former Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Chief Benjamin Magalong on Wednesday, Oct. 2, said he does not recall asking now-Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde for a “little favor” between 2006 and 2010.

Magalong told ANC that in the first place, during that time, the administration of then-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was “against him,” noting that he had been charged with rebellion for supposedly planning to destabilize the government in 2006.

He was later absolved.

“I cannot recall asking any favor na tulungan mo ako para makabalik, eh alam ko naman nun during that time the administration is against me. So bakit naman ako hihingi ng tulong?” he said.

He said in 2010, when he “got back in the mainstream in the Philippine National Police” that was already a new administration.

“And it was (former PNP chief Raul Bacalzo) who gave the order for me to go back to the Philippine National Police. And that was the time I joined the Quezon City Police District,” Magalong said.

“But nevertheless, for the sake of argument, we should be focusing on the issue and not on the other issue,” he added.
