(Eagle News)—The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines has placed under yellow alert the Luzon grid anew, with a red alert to be hoisted later in the day.

The NGCP said the alert, which means the reserves are less than the capacity of the biggest online power plant, is in effect from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A red alert, which means a generation deficiency exists, will be in effect from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Available capacity is at 10,669 megawatts (MW) while peak demand is at 10,619 MW.

The Department of Energy will announce the cause for the alerts later in the day.
