LTO official: No. 8 car plates no longer valid as early as 2016

The man in this video uploaded in the Dash Cam Diaries Philippines Facebook account was identified by police as Jojo Valerio. Velrio was nabbed in Tarlac on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

(Eagle News) — A Land Transportation Office official on Thursday, Nov. 15, said the validity period for all No. 8 plates already expired in 2016.

In an interview over radio dzbb, Director Francis Almora said this means that it was illegal for anyone, including lawmakers, to use it.

“Wala pong naibigay sa 17th Congress. Wala po tayong production ng plate for 17th Congress..,” Almora said.

According to Almora, “with due respect sa congressman na na-isyuhan nun, nasa kanya po yung ano na pagtanggal ng plaka.”

Earlier, charges were filed against one Jojo Valerio after he figured in two road rage incidents caught on video while driving a sport utility vehicle using the No. 8 plate number.

One of the victims who was seen being punched by Valerio in one of the videos said Valerio had introduced himself as the son of a congressman to him.

Valerio later denied he made the claim, and refused to reveal where he got the car plate.
