LTFRB orders law enforcers to arrest Angkas drivers and operators, impound motorcycles

(Eagle News) — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has ordered its law enforcement unit and other relevant agencies to apprehend the drivers and operators of motorcycle ride-sharing firm Angkas, and to impound their motorcycles.

The LTFRB issued Board Resolution No. 95, signed by LTFRB chair Martin Delgra III and Board Member Ronaldo Corpus, after the Supreme Court issued a temporary restraining order on a Mandaluyong court’s order stopping the government from interfering in Angkas operations.

The TRO on Branch 213 Mandaluyong Regional Trial Court Judge Carlos Valenzuela Aug. 20 order stems from a petition for certiorari filed by the LTFRB and the Department of Transportation.

The High Court also ordered Angkas and Valenzuela to comment on the petition for certiorari filed by the two government agencies within 10 days from notice.

“The Board hereby orders the law enforcement unit of this Board as well as directs the LTO (Land Transportation Office), the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG), the Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (I-ACT) and other authorized traffic enforcement agencies to APPREHEND and IMPOUND motorcycles of DBDOYC/Angkas if found operating in the streets as public utility vehicles,” the LTFRB resolution said.
