(Eagle News) – The minimum fare for jeepneys will now be P8, starting Wednesday, February 8.
This was after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) announced the approval of the one-peso provisional jeepney fare increase.
LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra explained that this means that minimum fare hike will return to P 8 from the current P 7.
This will cover Metro Manila, Central Luzon and Southern Tagalog regions.
The LTFRB decision was in response to the petition filed by transport group ACTO last year.
Delgra cited the increase in diesel prices, as well as the cost of living as the justification for the grant of the provisional fare increase.
The P8 new minimum jeepney fare will take effect on Wednesday, February 8.
