LPA monitored outside PAR develops into tropical depression

TD “Onyok” to enter PAR within 24 to 36 hours

(Eagle News)–The low pressure area monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has developed into a tropical depression and is expected to enter PAR within 24 to 36 hours.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said once inside PAR, the tropical depression will be named “Onyok.”

It may also intensify into a tropical storm within 24 hours even if it is less likely to make landfall in any part of the country.

So far, PAGASA said the tropical depression has maintained its strength as it moved west-northwestward over the Philippine Sea.

Its center was located  1,410 kilometers east of Visayas, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kilometers per hour.

The tropical depression is moving west northwest at 30 kph.
