LPA east of Surigao del Sur now a tropical depression

TD “Liwayway” to remain over PHL Sea

(Eagle News)–The low pressure area east of Surigao del Sur as developed into a tropical depression.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said as of 10 a.m., the center of TD “Liwayway” was 405 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan or 510 km east of Maasin City, Southern Leyte.

“Liwayway” is packing  maximum sustained winds of up to 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

It is moving northwest at 20 kph.

PAGASA said the trough of “Liwayway” may bring scattered light to moderate rains with at times heavy rainshowers over Caraga and Davao Region today.

“Liwayway,” PAGASA said, is less likely to make landfall in the country and is forecast to remain over the Philippine Sea throughout the forecast period.
