(Eagle News)–“Liwayway” has intensified into a tropical storm, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
PAGASA said as of 10 a.m., the center of the tropical storm was estimated at 340 kilometers east northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte or 455 km east of Baler, Aurora, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
PAGASA said “Liwayway” is moving northwest at 25 kph.
Between today and tomorrow morning, the trough of “Liwayway” may bring scattered light to moderate rains with at times heavy rainshowers over Bicol Region, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, and Batanes, PAGASA said.
It added the southwest monsoon will also bring scattered light to moderate rains with at times heavy rain showers over Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan and Western Visayas.
“Liwayway” remains less likely to make landfall in the country.
Sea travel is risky over the seaboards of Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Visayas due to potentially rough sea conditions, PAGASA said.
