Lion Air says it will shoulder funeral expenses of 9 killed in Calamba plane crash

(Eagle News)–The owner of the medical evacuation plane that crashed in Calamba, Laguna on Sunday, Sept. 1, has promised to shoulder the funeral expenses of those who died.

“For now, ang focus namin is two things. Number one, get our crew and passengers with their loved ones. Number two, those requiring medical attention as a result of this particular accident to have adequate medical attention,” Lester Ople, Lion Air lawyer, added in an interview over radio dzbb.

A statement from the Office of the Civil Defense said all nine passengers of the plane which crashed in Agojo private resort in Barangay Pansol were killed.

The plane was transporting a patient from Dipolog to Manila.

The statement identified the fatalities as follows:

2. First Officer Lino Cruz Jr. –
Co-pilot

3. Dr. Garret Garcia

4. Kirk Eoin Badiola-
Nurse

5. Yamato Togawa-
Nurse

6. Ryx Gil Laput

7. Raymond Bulacja-flight mechanic

8. Tom Carr-Patient

9. Erma Carr-Wife of patient

Two people, John Rey Roca, and Malou Roca,  the caretakers of the place where the plane crashed, sustained burns from the incident and are recuperating in the hospital.

The cause of the crash has yet to be determined.
