Light rains forecast in parts of PHL due to northeast monsoon

(Eagle News)– Light rains are still expected in parts of the country even after “Sarah” has weakened into a tropical storm.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said due to the northeast monsoon, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains are forecast over Metro Manila, Bicol Region, Aurora, Quezon, Rizal, Laguna and Bulacan.

Gusty conditions may still be experienced today over Batanes and Babuyan Islands due to the surge of the northeast monsoon, which is also forecast to gradually weaken throughout the day, PAGASA said.

PAGASA said sea travel remains risky, especially for small seacraft, over the seaboards of Northern Luzon (Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Provinces and Isabela) due to prevailing rough sea conditions caused by the northeast monsoon.

“Sarah,” which was last spotted 430 km northeast of Basco, Batanes, moving north northeast at 15 kph,
is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between tonight and tomorrow morning.
