(Eagle News)–Senator Panfilo Lacson has released a letter supposedly from Capiz Rep. Fredenil Castro seeking funding for a project.
Lacson released the letter after Castro challenged him to reveal his source on the supposed plan to allocate P1.5 billion in “pork barrel” to each of the 22 deputy speakers at the House of Representatives and P700 million each to the other congressmen.
Castro had repeatedly denied the supposed plan, which Lacson later said had been stopped after the Palace said President Rodrigo Duterte would scrutinize the budget bill.
The writer of the letter, which was supposedly received by Lacson’s office on Sept. 23, asked for “financial assistance” for a new municipal building for Dumalag, which would reportedly be affected by a road widening project.
The writer said the municipality, being a 4th class municipality, could not afford the P258,000,000 for the construction of the building.
“I trust that this matter will merit your attention and kind consideration,” the letter, supposedly signed by Castro, said.
