(Eagle News)–“Unintended inefficiency?”
This was the question posed by Senator Panfilo Lacson on Monday, May 13, following reports some vote-counting machines in polling precincts malfunctioned.
“First time, maybe. Second time, we’ll.. okay, let’s see. Third time, let’s bring them to court, or strangle them,” Lacson said in a Tweet.
Reports of VCMs malfunctioning were rampant in parts of Metro Manila.
Senator Grace Poe’s voting for instance was delayed in San Juan after the VCM rejected her ballot several times.
The same can be said of former Vice President Jejomar Binay’s voting in Makati.
Binay himself went to the Commission on Elections to report the incident.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said the machine has been replaced.
The former vice president was slated to return to the precinct accompanied by Education and Information Division chairperson Frances Arabe.
