Lacson: Ambush survivor identified Matobato

(Eagle News)– Senator Panfilo Lacson revealed on Thursday (September 22) that an ambush survivor–a lawyer– identified supposed Davao Death Squad (DDS) member Edgar Matobato as the one who tried to kill him.

Lacson inquired Matobato if he knew a certain Abeto Salcedo, Jr. who was ambushed along Bonifacio Highway in Digos City, Davao del Sur in October 23, 2014.
“Hindi, sir. Nandito na ako noon, sir,” Matobato said.

“Nakilala ka niya, dahil naka-survive siya. Binaril mo daw siya,” Lacson said.

“Kung babalikan natin ‘yung cartographic sketch, kamukha mo talaga. At noong lumabas ka mismo dito, nakilala ka niya,” the senator added.

According to Lacson, Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel II relayed the information.

“Hindi mo napuruhan at siya’y naka-survive kaya siya ay magfa-file ng complaint laba nsayo na attempted murder or frustrated murder,” Lacson informed Matobato.

Matobato placed himself under Witness Protection Program, but left custody when President Rodrigo Duterte won the elections.
