(Eagle News)— The Senate public order committee will conduct its probe on the death of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa at the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame.

Senator Panfilo Lacson said on Monday that the committee hearing will be held at the Camp Crame conference room on Wednesday (November 23) at 9 a.m.

Lacson said it was up to the PNP if the hearing will be made public due to the security consideration over Espinosa’s son and alleged Eastern Visayas drug lord, Kerwin Espinosa, who is currently detained at the PNP Custodial Center, also in Camp Crame.

“I leave it to them. Facilities nila. Pero okay raw sa kanila. Ako rin ang tinatanong. Sabi ko kayo ang may facility, kayo nakaalam ng security consideration ni Kerwin, kayo mag-determine. Baka i-open din nila,” Lacson said.

Lacson said he already received through e-mail a copy of Kerwin’s draft affidavit, although he has yet to read it thoroughly.

The senator, however, revealed that most of the officials Kerwin named as allegedly involved in illegal drug operations belong to the PNP.

“Siyempre mga government officials, mostly mga police officials,” Lacson said.

Kerwin arrived from Abu Dhabi Friday morning (November 18) as he promised to “tell all” and reveal the personalities involved in the drug trade.

His father, Mayor Espinosa, was killed early dawn of November 5 while detained at the Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail in Baybay City by members of the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Region 8. (Eagle News Rex Felix Salvador)
