Duterte appoints Ricardo Morales as new PhilHealth president

(Eagle News) — The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. has a new president.

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed  Ricardo Morales at the helm of PhilHealth, days after he ordered its officials to submit their courtesy resignation.

The President gave the order after Aileen De Leon and Edwin Roberto revealed WellMed Dialysis Center, where they worked, claimed the PhilHealth benefits of its deceased patients.

De Leon, Roberto and WellMed co-owner Bryan Sy have been charged with estafa through falsification of documents in connection with the ghost dialysis mess.

Also charged were seven other WellMed employees.

Morales was earlier appointed as a member of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Board of Trustees.
