1 of 3 primary suspects in Castillo’s death surrenders to Senator Lacson

(Eagle News) — One of the primary suspects in the death of hazing victim Horacio Castillo III has surrendered to Senator Panfilo Lacson.

Lacson said his personnel picked up John Paul Solano from a gasoline station on the North Luzon Expressway on Friday.

He said this was after he received a phone call from a Senate staff, who told him Solano wanted to surrender.

University of Sto.Tomas Faculty of Civil Law dean Nilo Divina said the surrender was made possible after he talked to Solano on Thursday.

He said the UST student gave him a list of names of people he wanted to surrender to.

“I spoke to him and said he would be going to the senator. I told him he wouldn’t be harmed,” Divina said.

Divina said the call was made possible after he told  his own father, who is close to Solano’s father, that it would be better for the UST student to turn himself in.

“My father (then) called Captain Solano, (Solano’s) father,” Divina said.

“Revive” Castillo

According to Divina, based on what Solano’s father told his father, the younger Solano was only told to revive Castillo, and he failed.

This was why Castillo was brought by Solano to the hospital.

“That’s the only information I know so far,” Divina said.

Lacson said the younger Solano would be turned over to the Manila Police District.
