(Eagle News)–The former executive assistant of ex-Makati Mayor Junjun Binay has died.
Binay said Monette Bernardo, 44, succumbed to the gunshot wound she sustained when she was attacked last Thursday.
According to the police, Bernardo was shot by a lone gunman after she alighted from her vehicle to enter her residence along Makiling Street in Barangay Olympia in Makati.
The gunman fled with a cohort on board a motorcycle.
The police are still determining the motive for the attack.
Prior to Bernardo’s death, Binay had announced a P1 million reward for any information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator.
No words can describe this tragic loss. Monette was a kind, generous, and compassionate soul whose friendship I treasured and valued deeply. My family and I mourn her passing, and extend our love and prayers to her loved ones during this heartbreaking time,” Binay said.
