(Eagle News) — The Judicial and Bar Council has shortlisted ten individuals for the Supreme Court post to be left vacant by Associate Justice Noel Tijam when he retires on January 5.
Topping the shortlist, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra, JBC ex-officio member, said, were CA justices Manuel Barrios, Japar Dimaampao, and Amy Lazaro-Javier.
The three got six votes each.
Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang and CA justices Ramon Cruz, Ramon Garcia, and Mario Lopez received five votes each; while CA justice Apolinario Bruselas, former Ateneo law dean Cesar Villanueva and SC Administrator Jose Midas Marquez got four.
President Rodrigo Duterte is slated to choose from the shortlist, which will be forwarded to Malacanang.
