Infographics: Philippine Heart Month

QUEZON City, Philippines – According to Department of Health (DOH), Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is among the top killers in th Philippines, causing more than half of all deaths annually. This disease which is manifested primarily as heart attacks and strokes are caused by smoking, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity and harmful use of alcohol.

 

That is why the government exerts its full effort to raise people’s awareness about this serious health problem, thus declaring the month of February of every year as “Philippine Heart Month” pursuant to Proclamation No. 1096.
